Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his team in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” Jones said.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell of this nature with results this poor.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always fight.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to the top, prove again what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
