The former Liverpool manager says rejoining to lead Liverpool is plausible in theory.

The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club remains an option. The 58-year-old, after a transformative nine-year spell featuring Champions League success and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on positions as head of global soccer for Red Bull and in an advisory capacity to Germany's league body.

Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments

They secured England's top flight under Arne Slot, but many fans who adore the manager would embrace the possibility that he may eventually return. In a wide-ranging interview, he shared with the podcast host: “I stated I will never coach any other side within the country. So that means in case it's my former club...yes. Theoretically it’s possible.”

“At 58 years old, that means I might decide down the line, it's uncertain. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, I don’t have to do that. I can just see what lies ahead.”

Conditions for a Comeback

When asked about which situations would need to occur to tempt his return to management, he revealed he isn't eager toward coming back. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing under bad weather through long matches; I'm glad to skip press conferences multiple times weekly or constant media duties a week.

“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, yet sharing a meal with the players having a nice chat, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games so there was often a very good mood around the place. I still have the captain's chuckle vividly recalled to illustrate.”

Commending Arne Slot

Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, praising him for the adjustments that won the league last term. The team has suffered four in a row in all competitions following significant transfers, yet he dismissed the suggestion of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. You don’t have to worry over the club, things will improve.”

Heartfelt Words for Diogo Jota

Klopp also spoke emotionally on the loss of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and its impact for the team. The forward died tragically in a road accident together with his sibling in July.

“How do you replace a person like him? This isn't just regarding the player himself, it’s the guy he was. It's hard to picture the squad without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. Nobody at Liverpool would cite it as an excuse but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where he was omnipresent. Dealing with that on a personal level is difficult. Unbearable.”
