The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Selected the Wrong Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It features the beloved cast of misfits, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and making their mark, while also hinting at several agonizing personal histories for characters including Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was missing in the song choice.

This sequence uses "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar composition composed by artist the talented musician. This piece originating from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second one released by the production company's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its presence.

Personally, The series' opening doesn't quite capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. This track that excites you before you dive into an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the right notes for me. It's a grand composition, but from what I know of the group, I feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Naturally, the creators has stated that the animated show will have some surprises and differences from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro seems to be one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or want a head start to learn about the personas of the second series, the actual play are available on the audio platform and YouTube.
