George Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Canada's MLB team reached their maiden World Series since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the sole Canadian team in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 victory in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming championship.
"It's incredible for this squad, our city, Canada," said Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now slugged twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another player in the world that I'd prefer in that situation other than him with his post-season brilliance," noted Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a World Series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" in the wake of his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but praised their work this season.
"This is a unique group. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he continued.
The Blue Jays claimed the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
